Video: “Time Is Illmatic” The Documentary (Trailer)

20 years ago, many of us fell in love with Nas’s Illmatic album. Flash forward to 2014 and Nas not only released Illmatic XX back in April, but he also showed his documentary, Time Is Illmatic, at the Tribeca Film Festival. The one hour and 18 minute documentary shows not only the life of Nasir Jones, which is Nas’s real name, but also takes a look at his life in Queensbridge, New York and how he was living before he became well known and famous and taking his life + music from being a young street poet no one really knew to one of the greatest living rappers in history.

With commentary from many people, including Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Q Tip, Pharrell Williams, and many more, many of us will get to see a behind the scenes look of what Nas’s life REALLY was like and how he became a hip hop legend.

Time Is Illmatic will be available on DVD October 1 and will be on iTunes and VOD October 3.
