A man was arrested after he shot and killed his wealthy father at his apartment yesterday.
Thomas Gilbert Jr. was arrested last night after he murdered his father and Wainscott Capital Partners founder and president Thomas Gilbert Sr. Gilbert Sr.’s body was then discovered around 3:30 P.M. and the now widow contacted police.
According to The New York Daily News, police found him hiding in his apartment late last night:
His distraught mother called 911 at 3:31 p.m. after finding her mortally wounded husband in a bedroom of their eighth-floor pad, a source said. It was not clear if she was home at the time of the shooting.
Officers in riot door broke down the door of a Chelsea apartment about 10:45 p.m. Sunday to apprehend Thomas Gilbert Jr., who had barricaded himself inside, officials said.
Police said the murder weapon — a Glock 22 .40-caliber handgun — was recovered inside the apartment.
When police found his son, he had no emotion or guilt over what he did and was then taken into custody.
No word on what the motive was for this crime.
